How to Prep for Your Bridal Makeup Trial 💍✨💄

Your bridal makeup trial is an exciting step toward your big day - and a little prep goes a long way in getting the best results. Here’s how to get your skin (and outfit!) trial-ready so we can create your dream look together.

1. Skincare:

Start with a Happy Base, Great makeup starts with great skin.

• Stick to your routine: In the weeks leading up to your trial, keep skincare simple and consistent. Avoid trying new products that could cause breakouts or irritation.
• Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate: Drink plenty of water and use a good moisturizer daily to keep skin plump and fresh. 💧💦
• Gentle exfoliation: Exfoliate the day prior  your trial to remove dry patches, but skip harsh scrubs.

An amazing product to improve skin texture is
Dermalogica
⭐️Daily Microfoliant
⭐️Daily Milkfoliant - (more a more sensitive skin)

• Arrive with clean skin: Come to your appointment with a freshly cleansed face ❌️ no makeup, no heavy oils or heavy moisturiser.

• Lip care matters 💋: Lip balms and a gentle exfoliation will help with application and longevity.

• Tan :If you plan on having a spray tan for the big day apply a small amount of fake tan prior the trial ☀️

2. Hair 💇‍♀️
• Have your hair styled similar that you plan to for the wedding. Im not talking a full updo or a bouchy blow out. But if you plan on having your hair up with face framing pieces mimic it with a pony or loose messy bun with some pieces down at the front or visa versa with having it down.

3. What to Wear to Your Trial.

What you wear can affect how your makeup looks overall.
• Choose light or neutral colors: White, ivory, beige, or soft pastels similar to your wedding dress. This helps you visualize what everything will look like all together.

• Match your neckline: Wear a top with a neckline similar to your wedding outfit (strapless, off-shoulder, etc.) to help visualize the final look.

4. Bring Inspiration (But Stay Open)
• Save photos of makeup looks you love, but be open to adjustments - I will tailor the look to you as an individual. 👰‍♀

5. Treat It Like a Test Run
Take photos in different lighting, wear the makeup for a few hours, and note how it feels. This is your chance to tweak and perfect everything so you feel confident and glowing on your big day.📸

✨ Prep well, trust the process, and enjoy the experience—this is all part of the bridal magic! ✨

THE LEAD UP TO THE BIG DAY

Time to prep

The lead up to the big day is a key time to get your skin in tip top condition.
Some of the best tips i have for getting gorgeous glowing skin are;
• Drinking lots of water

Try and sleep well (as hard as it is)

• Use a tailored skincare routine (ideally something that has been professionally advised) ideally for around a minimum of 3 months prior.

Any advanced treatments like below please take inconsideration the downtime to gain the maximum results.

Botox,

Derma-planing,

Microneedling

• Use an SPF daily to protect your skin, this should be a non negotiable part of your daily skincare routine.

Facial waxing or threading.

So make up sits well on the skin I would advise having any facial hair removed around 4 days - a week prior, make up can sometimes not sit well on skin that has been treated recently.

The best salon I reccomend for all pre wedding prep is

Beauty at the Bay in Colchester

THE BIG DAY

Your moment to shine

As your make up artist, we will have arranged a suitable time for me to arrive, set up and start my first client.

My kit will be fully sanitised with freshly cleaned brushes.

If you like a stick to a schedule, I am happy to work to that or I am also happy to go with the flow.

It's so important to enjoy the start of your wedding day as you mean to go on. Enjoy it!  Embrace being around people you love and the professionals that are going to look after you.

Before i pack my kit away I will do any touch-ups your party may require.

I would also love to take pictures and videos for my portfolio and/or advertising. If this is something you would prefer me not to do please let me know.
